BOARD MEETINGS
Public meetings of the Burnaby Board of Education generally take place on
the second and fourth Tuesday of every month during the regular school year
unless otherwise noted. (see below).
Meetings begin at 7 pm and are held at the District
Administration Office, 5325 Kincaid Street. In July and August,
meetings are held at the call of the Chair. Members of the community are
welcome to attend all public meetings. Individuals or groups are also welcome
to make a presentation to the Board at a public meeting. The agenda is posted online
the Monday morning prior to the scheduled public meeting. Minutes of these meetings
are posted after they are approved by the Board. Taped broadcasts can be
viewed on the Saturday afternoon following the meeting on Shaw Cable TV at 3:30
pm (time is subject to rescheduling).

Writing to the Board
Letters addressed to the Board will be included on the public agenda of the
upcoming Board meeting. The deadline for submissions is 9 am on the Thursday
prior to the meeting. The preferred method of communicating with the Board is
by way of a letter delivered by mail or fax to:

Asking Questions at a Board Meeting
The Board welcomes questions regarding its decisions, practices or agenda items. There is a designated question period at the end of each public meeting. Audience members should identify themselves before asking their question. Questions or comments about personal issues, individuals or property acquisitions are not appropriate for regular meetings of the Board. Please contact the Secretary-Treasurer or the Superintendent of Schools (604-296-6900) for possible alternative times.
Communication Break
An opportunity to speak with trustees and district staff is usually provided at the end of each public meeting.

Presentations to the Board
Individuals or groups wishing to make a presentation to the Board must
submit a written request to the school district's Secretary-Treasurer no later
than 9:00a.m. on the Thursday prior to the Board meeting at which they wish to
speak. The request should include the topic as well as the presenter's name and
address. The preferred method of communicating with the Board is by way of a
letter delivered by mail or by fax to:

Presentations must not exceed 10 minutes. Lengthier briefings will be accepted in writing for the Board's consideration.
Audio Visual Requirements
If audio visual equipment will be required for the presentation to the
Board, please contact the Secretary-Treasurer's office (604-296-6900, extension
661004) by Friday prior to the meeting to ensure the equipment can be set
up for the meeting.
Written Presentations
If the presentation to the Board is supported with any written (electronic or
paper-based) material and information, please ensure that the
Secretary-Treasurer's office (604-296-6900, extension 661004) receives a copy
of all materials by Thursday morning prior to the meeting.
