AVPA – Athletic and Visual & Performing Arts Program at Burnaby Central
A program designed to give student athletes and performers the ability to balance their rigorous practise or performance schedule with their academic program. Depending on the level of performance and training scheduled, (eg. provincial or national team), students may be enrolled in a partial academic program.
Basketball Academy @ Byrne Creek Community School
In partnership with Basketball BC, this program provides basketball specific training and off court sport enhancement opportunities with National level coaches and programs while ensuring that academic course work leading to graduation is completed. It is for boys or girls starting in grade 9 or 10.
Hockey Program @ Burnaby North & Burnaby Central
The district offers two hockey programs.
Burnaby North – a program aimed at developing an individual’s hockey skills to build and enhance self-confidence and self-esteem that may translate into better academic performance.
Burnaby Central – an elite level Hockey Canada School Program operated in conjunction with the Burnaby Winter Club. Its objective is to provide high level hockey players the opportunity to pursue academic excellence. (note: a fee paying program)
Soccer Programs @ Burnaby Central & Burnaby North
PASS – Play Active School Sports (Burnaby Central)
A program that provides high level soccer players the opportunity to pursue academic excellence leading to graduation, while participating in a high-performance soccer program. (note: a fee paying program).
Whitecaps Soccer (Burnaby Central)
The Vancouver Whitecaps selects students for this program and their academic program is adjusted according to their athletic program.
SFU Soccer Program (Burnaby North)
In partnership with Simon Fraser University, this program offers high performance soccer training in a University environment, while ensuring that academic course work leading to graduation is completed.
SFU Swim Program
In partnership with Simon Fraser University, this program offers high performance swim training in a University environment, while ensuring that academic course work leading to graduation is completed.
