SECONDARY SCHOOL APPRENTICESHIP (SSA)
- open to students in Grades 10, 11 or 12, 15 years of age or older
- students are hired as an apprentice and participate in 480 hours of paid work experience with a qualified employer
- students are registered as an apprentice with the Industry Training Authority (ITA)
- student are responsible for identifying a suitable employer
- dual credit program - students receive 16 graduation credits and 480 hours of workbased training credited towards apprenticeship requirements
- school-arranged work experience scheduled to fit school, student and employers schedules
- formal Application Process is required: students apply through their home school Career Programs Advisor, complete an application package
, signed by parent/guardian and submit it to Career Programs office - Dual credit program: students gain16 graduation credits and time (480 hours) is credited toward the Work-Based Training hours required during an apprenticeship
- Students can participate in both Ace-IT and SSA
- Successful SSA students are eligible for a $1,000.00 scholarship
