SECONDARY SCHOOL APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM
APPLICATION PROCESS

Students apply to program:

  • during Course Selection process or throughout school year
  • referred/nominated by teacher or administrator

and complete and submit Application Package Download PDF to CPAdvisor. Applications must be signed by parent/guardian.

Application Packages Download PDF are screened by CPAdvisors. Students are responsible for identifying a suitable employer. Meeting is scheduled with student, parent/guardian, employer and CPAdvisor. SSA Registration Form is completed, signed and forwarded to District Consultant: Career & Transition Programs.

Employer and CPAdvisor identifies and documents Learning Outcomes for SSA 11A for the first 120 hours. Student is given SSA Workbook for SSA 11A.

Student is registered with the Industry Training Authority (ITA) as an apprentice and receives a Trade Worker Number. Registration is done by District Consultant: Career & Transition Programs.

Learning Outcomes for SSA 11B, 12A and 12B are further developed and documented. Students are given SSA Workbooks for subsequent courses as they complete 120 hours for each course.
