BCeSIS - British Columbia enterprise Student Information System
BCeSIS is a new software program searched for, procured, and supported by a joint venture of the Ministry of Education and BC educators.
The purpose of BCeSIS is to standardize the computer software used by BC schools to register students, schedule them in their classes and to maintain their school records. To date there has been no standard in British Columbia to manage our student data. In fact there are over 25 different systems used by different schools and districts to perform these tasks. In most cases student records are kept manually in file folders which are mailed from school to school. Students moving from district to district are processed manually. BCeSIS will speed up the organization of school data and eliminate redundant student data entry.
The Burnaby BCeSIS project is being overseen by a steering committee under the sponsorship of Assistant Superintendent Kevin Kaardal. Their goal is to ensure the development of a comprehensive implementation strategy which is cognizant of the needs of all District stakeholder groups including students and parents.
As the project strategic plan takes shape and potential roll-out dates are identified there will be additional information shared with District parent groups and updates will be posted on the District website. Please direct any questions you may have about the new system to bcesisinfo@sd41.bc.ca.
