IMMIGRATION PROCEDURE

Study Permit - Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC)

Once a student has received our formal letter of acceptance, it is their responsibility to obtain a Study Permit from the Canadian Embassy or Canadian Consulate in the country where they reside.

Students must obtain a Study Permit before leaving their country of residence in order to attend school in Canada. The student will need to:

submit to the Canadian Embassy or the Canadian Consulate in the country of residence, an acceptance letter from the Burnaby School District, an official receipt of payment of tuition fees, and proof of sufficient funds to maintain the student for one year; and
in most cases, pass a medical examination.

International students can only attend the school authorized by the school district.

It is the student’s responsibility to ensure their Study Permit is current. Students can contact the International Education Office if they require assistance in completing CICs application to extend a Study Permit.
