Burnaby South participated for the first time ever in the World Scholar’s Cup, a 2-day intellectual challenge that covers a variety of subject areas. Their team finished 4th in the senior division and 2nd in the writing component. Two individual students also made their mark. Deforrest Petrik was 3rd in the individual senior division competition while Jared Kutney was selected to be a part of the final day debate showcase. Their impressive results have qualified them for the Global round to be held in Cape Town, South Africa this summer. Fundraising efforts are in the works.
